Finally a diagnosis!
by heather
Well, after three years of headaches and too many visits to numerous doctors to even count, I decided to go to Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. After just a few appointments there, I was meeting with the Neurosurgeon who came up with the diagnosis and plan. Actually, the diagnosis should have been simple, and 1 of the 4 MRIs that I have had should have given the Doctors a clue as to what was causing my headaches. Dr.Davis said that I had a Chiari Malformation and showed it to me on the MRI. He said that there is only one way to fix it...surgery. Surgery on my head? That's a bit scary, but then again, so is waking up with a headache every day! So, Dr.Davis explained the surgery to Nate and I and told us to go home and think about it. I didn't have to think long, I knew I was ready to take whatever step was necessary to rid myself of this pain that is taking over my life. Time to learn more about Chiari Malformation and the surgery to fix it: Check back soon for helpful links!

Saw this post because I went to college w/ Nate and recently re-discovered the site. Were you having migraine headaches that medications like Imitrex wouldn't touch?

My wife gets migraines on a somewhat regular basis; not as frequently as she did before having a corrective procedure done on her sinuses & septum, but they're still more frequent than anyone would like. We're ready to try just about anything to get it cleared up!
